The Earth on Turtle's Back

This reading made me think of what life was really like before human existence. One thing I didn't understand was pretty much the whole story. It was confusing to me. The characters were turtles, a duck, a loon, a beaver, swans and a muskrat. The setting was important because it made us think about how the earth was before trees and everything got to it, when it was only water. I wonder how long a muskrat can really hold its breath for. ;) This story shows how turtles have their marking on their shells "the earth". I dont know why but for some reason I kept laughing when it talked about the muskrat. The story got suspenseful when the muskrat was loosing air and going unconscious. This reading changed my thinking about the decorations on the backs of turtles, and whenever I look at a turtle now I will think about the earth, and how the muskrat brought the "earth" there to the turtles back.
